Women in Architecture Scholarship Application

The Women in Architecture Scholarship Committee was created by the Women in Architecture Committee of AIA Philadelphia. The goals are this scholarship is to support female or those individuals identifying as female in their pursuits of design education. 

Who is Eligible?

Female or those individuals identifying as female or nonbinary students pursuing an undergraduate degree in any design field, construction, engineering, or any real estate development related discipline. 

What is the Criteria in Selecting Recipients?

The Women in Architecture Scholarship Committee will consider the following criteria when selecting scholarship recipients. Please address/include all of these criteria in your cover letter application.

  • High School Transcript
  • Other indicators of academic performance, such as Advanced Placement courses, academic honors
  • Community involvement or extracurricular activities
  • Indicate what undergraduate or associates degree you are pursuing and why. 
  • Who is your favorite designer?
  • What is your favorite building in Philadelphia?

Application Packet Should Be Combined into One PDF document and Include:

  • Cover Letter (be sure to address all six bullet points above in the Cover Letter)
  • Resume/CV
  • Pictures/Images of Your Work (No More than 5 images)
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation

Applications are due by April 1st.

If selected as a finalist, the applicant must arrange a time to be interviewed by member(s) of the Scholarship Committee. This interview could be virtual or in-person.

If selected as a scholarship recipient, the applicant will sign a brief agreement that clarifies that this is a one-time grant and that the scholarship funds must be spent on the following:

  • Transportation to and from educational institution;
  • Room and Board;
  • Books and Supplies; and/or
  • Tuition
